Allendale Farms is 100% mobile, so the work happens at your farm in our 14-foot trailer.

We freeze the semen in straws in liquid nitrogen
Frozen semen is stored in liquid nitrogen at about minus 320 degrees F.

We store it for you or ship it where you need it
When you are ready to breed, the semen ships in a special container to your mare's vet or wherever you choose.

Frozen semen can be shipped anywhere, including internationally. Here is what that looks like with Allendale Farms.

Allendale Farms furnishes detailed breeding instructions for identifying, thawing and inseminating, so each step is spelled out before you breed.

Right after ovulation
The mare is inseminated right after ovulation, which takes a few more ultrasounds by your veterinarian. Conception rates with frozen semen are equal to or slightly below fresh semen.

How does Allendale Farms ship frozen stallion semen?
We ship frozen stallion semen in special containers made for shipping frozen semen, using UPS Ground. The semen goes to your mare's veterinarian or wherever you need it. Call us to talk through where it is going and when you plan to breed, and we will help you set up the shipment.
Can you ship frozen semen internationally?
Yes. Frozen semen can be shipped anywhere, including internationally, and we arrange international shipping on request. Ask us about your destination. You can also ask us about certified storage for international shipping, which is part of how semen is prepared to leave the country.
How do we breed the mare once the semen arrives?
Allendale Farms furnishes detailed breeding instructions for identifying, thawing and inseminating. The mare is inseminated right after ovulation, which takes a few more ultrasounds by a veterinarian, so plan to have your vet involved. Frozen semen is ready the moment your mare is.
Is the semen stored until I am ready to ship?
Yes. Allendale Farms can store your stallion's frozen semen in liquid nitrogen for a monthly charge, then ship it when your mare is ready. You can also keep it in your own tank. Frozen semen has produced pregnancies after 15 to 20 years, so it can wait for the right mare.

The cost depends on where the semen is going and how it needs to ship. We do not post a price list, so please call for a quote. Tell us your stallion, the destination and your timing, and we will walk you through the options for getting the semen to your mare's vet.
